PM 9 Sensational number of entries
Verden, the Riders’ Town on the river Aller, will be the venue of the international tournament “Verden International” from July 31 to August 5. The competition program has been further improved over the previous years. As Verden provides perfect conditions, many international top riders love to travel to Verden. A new all-time high was reached when it comes to number of registered participants.
“We have revised our competition concept when it was decided to relocate the FEI World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses,” says Dr. Werner Schade, CEO of the Hannoveraner Verband and the Organizing Committee pVerd-event GmbH. Horses of all age-groups have the chance to compete in Verden, from futurity prospects to experienced and matured top horses. “Our facilities and the super ground conditions provide the perfect setting for dressage and show jumping riders.” Event manager Ulrike Kubelke adds: “We have reached a new peak this year when it comes to number of registered participants. We are very happy about this development!” 40 resp. 60 athletes have registered for the Federal Championship-qualifiers for five and six-year-old dressage horses, the highest number of entries achieved at all qualifying venues in Germany. 40 competitors, an above-average number of riders, has also registered for the qualifying competitions for the Nuremberg Cup. As a result, Verden has developed into the 2018 qualifying hotspot in Germany.
Many outstanding athletes will show up for the jumping competitions. “We always love to come to Verden. No other tournament provides competitions for all age-groups and training levels,” knows Olympic and World Champion Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum. There are not only contests for professional riders, the international amateur tour “Gaudemus Equis” is also a very popular part of the tournament schedule. There will be an additional national test for amateur show jumping riders this year.
A varied mixture of different nations has announced to participate at Verden International. Last year’s winner in the Grand Prix Special, Tatiana Kosterina, will try to defend her title with her mare Diavolessa vA. Team colleague Inessa Merkulova has also announced to come. Verden will be the last sighting stage for the American riders before the World Equestrian Games in Tryon/US.
Highlight on Sunday will be the final tests of the Hanoverian Championships. To improve transparency, there will be experts who comment the judges’ decisions. Heike Kemmer will be the expert in the finals of the Dressage Horse Championships and Nuremberg Cup, Joachim Geilfus will reveal his opinion of the show jumping horses.
Price for a day ticket on Tuesday and Wednesday will be Euro 5, from Thursday to Sunday Euro 10. The popular all-day tickets will again be available at Euro 35. The tournament tickets will at the same time be valid for the Foal and Broodmare Auction. Tickets are available with Ticketmaster www.ticketmaster.de or by phone ++49 (0) 1806 9 99 00 00.
